The book has three chapters on current and tide calculations. Other chapters deal with the boat, crew, skipper, navigation equipment ,safety, communication, anchoring, documents for sailing abroad ,voyage planning according to SOLAS V and weather etc. Second edition published in 2025, ISBN 978-91-988864-3-6.
The authors have extensive experience in sailing, boating and teaching navigation. Bengt Utterström has sailed the North Sea, the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean. In the summer of 2019 he sailed to Iceland via Shetland and the Faroe Islands. Previous sailing trips have been to Scotland and the Hebrides. Stig Eriksson lives on the west coast and has sailed to Scotland and the Faroe Islands on four occasions. He has also sailed along the Norwegian coast up to Lofoten and Tromsø.
